Hale Wellness
Every studio we spoke to wanted to add streaks and badges. This team designed around breath instead, and it shows — members keep telling us the app is the first wellness product that's ever felt calm.

The Brief
Hale is a membership wellness app, and its founders were adamant about one thing: it should never feel like a dashboard. No streaks, no red badges, no anxiety-inducing charts. Just a sense of quiet progress.
The Approach
We designed around breath, literally — pacing, whitespace and motion timing across the product were all calibrated to a slow, even rhythm. The palette shifts gently through the day rather than staying static, and every metric in the app is presented as a trend, never a target.
A soft, desaturated palette that adjusts with time of day
Micro-interactions timed to a resting breath cycle rather than standard easing curves
A brand voice guide banning comparison language ("streaks," "goals," "you’re behind")
The Result
Early cohort testing showed members opening the app more consistently than comparable wellness products, with qualitative feedback repeatedly using the word "calm" — the exact reaction the founders were designing for.
The best interface for wellness is one that doesn’t ask you to perform wellness at it.
